The winners of the year 2011’s “International Design Awards” competition have been announced. Designnobis team, with the designs of Dr. Hakan Gürsu, who is an academic at the METU Department of Endustrial Design, has received 4 awards.
“Twist”, a water boiler/kettle with no water loss, won a silver medal at Kitchen Appliances category and a honorable mention at Sustainable Living/Environmental Preservation category. “Cans’n Caps”, the product that won a total of three awards in Product, Concept and Idea Design categories of Green Dot Awards 2011 and A’Design Awards 2012 competitions and caused an awareness by recycling aluminum can caps, also won a honorable mention at IDA 2011. Dr. Hakan Gürsu and Designnobis team, who together won a bronze medal in the Build category of the Green Dot Awards 2011 with their project “Villa Sera”, a self sustaining construct, have won a total of 11 IDA awards with the addition of four awards that they won this year.
In the Student category, Nur Yıldırım, a student in METU Department of Industrial Design and a member of Designnobis team, won a silver medal with her project “planTree”, on which she worked during 2010-2011 spring term as a graduation project.
